Through a thorough review of the literature, it has been found that these methodologies not only improve the commitment and participation of students, but also have a positive impact on their academic performance and the development of key competences. The revised studies stress the importance of adapting these pedagogical practices to the specific characteristics of each educational context, as well as overcoming inherent challenges, such as resistance to change by some teachers and the need for adequate training. In addition, the crucial role of technology in the implementation of active methodologies is recognized, as it can enhance the teaching-learning process by facilitating collaboration between students and enriching academic content. Despite significant progress in this field, the importance of continuing to investigate and evaluate the impact of these methodologies is stressed, in order to identify best practices and optimize their implementation to improve educational quality in university teaching and prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.
