The purpose of this document is to investigate and publicize the different water injection processes applied in a MCIA, its advantages and technical disadvantages, in order to verify the results obtained with a simulation carried out by several authors. Based on an exhaustive literature review, it is considered that the use of a water injection system is very beneficial, in order to comply with anti-pollution regulations, which are increasingly restrictive. After performing relevant simulations and a parametric study, it is observed how trends and values are consistent with expectations. For the validation of data, the comparison of the results obtained with those published in different articles is taken. Once validated, it is concluded that a water injection system can be considered as a good substitute for current systems such as EGR systems and NOx reduction catalysts, further improving the performance and performance of a MCIA.
